DCAC Lecture Series

Want to learn more about how child abuse impacts victims, their families and our community? Our complimentary community Lecture Series is the perfect place to start.

The DCAC Lecture Series consists of educational trainings throughout the year focused on informing guests on relevant topics and equipping guests with the knowledge to keep their families safe and make a difference in our community.

Join us on February 19 at the Capital Factory as we discuss the intersection of child sexual abuse, child sex trafficking and domestic violence.

February 19 - The Abuse Continuum: Power and Control as a Motivator to Perpetuate Child Sexual Abuse, Sex Trafficking and Domestic Violence

Kelly Slaven, chief clinical officer, DCAC
Jessica Brazeal, chief programs officer, New Friends New Life

Often the fields of intervention of domestic violence, child sexual abuse and sex trafficking can operate somewhat, if not completely, independently from one another. But when taking a closer look at these issues, there are many of the very same tactics, traits and patterns of the abuse that occur in each type of abuse.

Learn from two experts in all three fields, Kelly Slaven and Jessica Brazeal, as we examine the general components of each category before drawing connections and exploring the progression that occurs within these three systems.
