Step 4: Complete Background Checks
After you attend a volunteer orientation and complete your volunteer interview, you will receive two (2) emails at the email address provided in your application: one from CACTXBGCREQUEST@DFPS.STATE.TX.US, and one from AUTOMATION@INSTASCREEN.NET. You must complete and submit the background check forms in both emails in order for your volunteer application to be considered complete.
DCAC will not accept volunteers if they have been convicted, have prior charges, or have charges pending for a felony or misdemeanor involving a sex offense, violent act, child abuse or neglect, or related acts that would pose a risk to children or DCAC’s program’s credibility. Additionally, DCAC will not accept volunteers if they have been convicted, have prior charges or have charges pending for a felony or misdemeanor involving theft within three years of the volunteer application date. DCAC will not accept volunteers if they have a Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) disposition of Reason to Believe (RTB) for sexual abuse or physical abuse. All other RTB dispositions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and a determination made by the DCAC’s Executive Director.
